About me
I am passionate about technology, data, and health. Holds a BSc. degree in Biochemistry and Mathematics from Makerere University, and MSc. degree in Bioinformatics from University of Edinburgh, with 10 and 7-year experience in medical research (immunology and molecular laboratory analysis) and Bioinformatics, respectively.
My PhD project aims to characterize the evolution and transmission of epidemic and pandemic influenza viruses in Africa. Here, I use advanced phylogenetics and epidemiological models to understand the causes and structure of influenza viral genetic diversity and transmission across Africa. Our results on the genetic diversity and reassortment of influenza viruses in Uganda and Africa have been published openly. Currently, I am finalizing writing my thesis :)
I am eager to join the industry of healthcare to bridge the gap between science, community health (public health), and service delivery. My priority is to develop informatics tools to enhance the public-health discipline in-terms of disease awareness, prevention and control, nutrition, and lifestyle.
