The PhD scholars at Makerere University is a forum that brings together Doctoral Researchers to proactively engage one another with mutual academic support in order to produce timely high quality research. This is to be achieved through networking, peer reviewing, sharing funding opportunities and an enhanced learning landscape. There are currently about 500 Doctoral Scholars from the 11 Colleges that form Makerere University.
Specific objectives:
- Establish fora for the members to provide academic peer support at University, College/School and Departmental levels,
- To cultivate long term relationships that are vital for continued multidisciplinary research and academic work,
- Represent the opinions of the student body to the appropriate authorities,
- Assist one another to identify potential funders/research grants,
- Serve as an avenue/platform through which PhD fellows can network (academically and socially), share ideas, engage in collaborative research/ and access relevant information.

The Forum Patron is the Director-Directorate of Research and Graduate Training. The Directorate recognizes this Forum as a springboard for Peer Learning where Doctoral students take stock of shared challenges and benchmark best practices.
